My 9 Dollar Flight

Picture 1

I sense a "5-dolluh footlong" jingle coming for the new airline JetAmerica when they announced the first 9 to 19 seats on each of their flights will cost nine bucks! Sure, there are the additional fees such as bag checking, 9/11 security fee, airport fee and etc, but even with that it can't escalate to more than $50 each way. So where does this subsidiary of JetBlue fly exactly? Midsize towns such as Lansing (MI), Melbourne (FL), Toledo (OH), South Bend (IN), St. Paul (MN) and Newark (NJ)... Hmm, all these cities seem to be awfully close to a grander city. So one can make a case for traveling from Central Florida to, let's say, New York City for $100 being a bargain, no? ::snickers:: (Yahoo)

My Super Rich Friends

I didn't think such a thing exists, but I kinda like the fact that it does- similar to a secret society that is going to save the world from itself. Fun.

My No Television Experiment Begins

493px-No_Television

For something new, me and my remaining roommate have decided to cancel our television service as a solution to cut costs around the apartment. Why fork over the extra 80 bucks a month when 90% of the things I watch is available on the internet? The only thing I'm missing are the live shows (ie. sporting events, award show) and I've already subscribed to MLBTV for the season. We'll see how long this lasts...

My Chinese Electric Cars

02electric00-650

Taking advantage of the current downfall in the US automobile industry, China leaders adapted a new plan to go ahead with their studies and development of electric cars. While electric cars had a short lifespan earlier this decade, they dwindled and faded away- loosely documented here. But with the current economic crisis and the no-end-in-sight outlook of it for the automobile industry in Detroit, China seems poised to succeed with their new plan and rival Japan as the leading electric car engineers in the world. My Tax Free Tickets

tick

In an ongoing battle between the entertainment community and the State of New York, you can chalk up one for entertainment. After all the debates regarding taxing performance tickets such as a movie, concerts and theatre, Governor Paterson struck down the proposal that would increase Broadway tickets- a smart move that is beneficial to the already slowing theatre community. My Bennigan's

bennigan'srestaurant

I've never been a fan of the chain restaurant Bennigan's and I guess they're not going to have the opportunity to change my mind. Both Bennigan's and Steak and Ale have filed for bankruptcy protection and while their parent company said they're not closing immediately, employees of the Irish-themed restaurant were greeted with a locked door when showing up for work. My MTA Fare Hike

2007_06_metrocard

By the year 2011, the MTA wants to increase fares on train, bridges and tunnels to a whopping 13.4%. As ridiculous as it sounds, people are still going to fork over the cash and pay to commute. On the plus, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is against the hike and trying to snip it with the help of his government allies. As dependent as New Yorkers are on public transportation, this is clearly taking advantage of the situation. I hope the government realizes it would only discourage New Yorker to leisure travel and it was would be a step backwards for the local economy. (NYT)

My Five-Dollar Bill

A new $5 bill is set to make its debut later year. With each changing bill, I can't help but think our currency is beginning to look like Monopoly money. Perhaps that would increase the value of the dollar. (CNN)
