My Asian Politician

Asians in politics is a rarity. First, a sad truth- not many Asian Americans care enough to partake in the system. Second, even if they are interested, it's nearly impossible to break through the race barrier. Enter John Liu.

After winning the democratic run-off for City Comptroller last week, Liu is poised and heavily favorited to win the general election this election day. If he does pull out the victory, he'd be the first Asian American to be elected into public service in the New York. Quite a feat if you ask me, considering the only other elected Asian officials I know of are all based in California. Should I vote based on race? No, probably not- but it certainly nudges me to do more research on Liu and his republican opponent Joe Mendola. (Newsday)

My Latest Rudy Giuliani Politic Bid

After that miserable strategy for the GOP Presidential bid last year, former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani is thinking a step smaller and is weighing his options for the New York governor position currently held by David Patterson. It's a good move on Giuliani's part. Say what you will in regards about the resident Yankee fan, but he's still one of the mayors this fine city has ever seen. Rather of not I'd vote for him if he decides to throw his hat in the race is still in question- I have plenty of time to mull that over. (NYTimes)

I'm not sure if I should be feeling sorry for or be laughing at the people who actually buys this crap for breakfast. Yes, it's the gays' fault Sanford's penis decided to poke younger greener pastures. If I roll my eyes any harder, they'll end up doing an 180 degree turn to the back of my head.

My 'Frog Cooker'

It's astonishing to me that Hong Kong's chief executive, Donald Tsang, would denounced Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989 as "something that happened a long time ago", it's best forget about it and this view "represents most of the Hong Kong people." Not only does the ever-growing negative communist influence my birth city is taking from China make me sick to my stomach, the idea of banning something that happened just 20 years(!) ago in media and education systems while everyone knows it undoubtedly occurred is so mind-boggling I wonder if what Tsang said about the Hong Kong people is true. I mean, I still remembering holding my parents' hands during demonstration marches that followed the incidents. 

Perhaps Martin Lee, the founder of the Hong Kong Democratic Party said it best- "If you throw a frog into boiling water, it will jump out right away. But if you put the frog in warm water and cook it slowly, it doesn't jump. We are being slowly cooked in Hong Kong, but hardly anyone is noticing it." (NYT)

What would happen if directors John Woo, Kevin Smith and Wes Anderson made public service announcement videos for Senator John McCain's bid for presidency? This absurdly funny Youtube video kinda nailed the artistic style of those directors to a tee with John Woo's being my personal favorite.

My Initial Sarah Palin Reaction

I'm not going to lie. Sarah Palin is a very smart choice for John McCain. So smart that I'm sure the Obama camp is suddenly shakened by the fact that the "freshness" has transferred to the GOP side. Palin covers so much left over by Hillary Clinton and adds on that good ol' red state politics. Does choosing Palin seem like a panic pick? A little bit. Does this suddenly make me want to put my independent ballot on Republican side? Uh... let's not go crazy here. (NYT)

My Obama Underwear

How much of a Obama supporter are you? If you're hardcore, you can purchase the new line of Andrew Christian underwear featuring the Democratic presidential candidate's face on the front and the year '08 on the bum side. It seems more like Obama is supporting you instead you supporting him.... I wonder what other Obama memorabilia are out there. (AndrewChristian)

My Other Other Governor Scandal

The hits just keep on coming. Current New York governor David Paterson revealed today he and his wife had extra-martial affairs during the rocky periods of their marriage. Paterson had sworn in to become the 55th governor of New York earlier today. I guess it's better to reveal your secret before they come out scandalous, huh? (NYDN)

My Tibet Rally

And I thought driving on Sunday was safe. While going up the West Side Highway, I got trapped from 20th to 42nd street for 30 minutes. It was a little rough. So when I passed 42nd street, i had to take a picture of the Tibetan rally in front of the Chinese embassy. This picture didn't do the situation justice. With a quick glance, I saw at least 15 cops on horses, 30 Tibetan flags with at least 300 people. 

With this protest on the West side and the crane collapse on the East, this sure made it a rough weekend to navigate around the island. 

My Open Letter to Ashley Alexandra Dupre

Ms. Dupre, 

I'm sure the last few days has been a mess for you since you were identified as 'Kristen' in Elliot Spitzer's sex scandal. Afterall, you are just a 22-year old from New Jersey who came across the Hudson in search of a career in music.... but too bad, what did you think would happen when you sleep with a state governor for money? 

And one more thing, you told an interviewer you hope no one would view you as a "monster". Oh sweetheart, you don't have to worry about that. Nobody sees you as a monster, just a hooker. Which apparently, is not as bad. (NYT)

My New York Governor

So Elliot Spitzer continues a string of politicians with a sex scandal. This disappoints me personally not only because he's from my home state- but also because he's been building his rapid-fast career out of calling out corruption in politics. It would be days before we get a decision whether or not he'd step down from his once promising career. (NYT)

My Clinton Boost

Clinton finally stopped Obama's winning streak starting from Rhode Island then to Ohio to an ultra-close Texas race. It is apparent that the democratic nomination will come down to those superdelegates after the Pennsylvania primary. Now where can I get one of those nifty touch screen television monitors John King has been using since Super Tuesday?

My Texas Shootout

Leave it to the NY Post to have the most creative front-page for tonight's primaries in Texas and Ohio. I especially like how they have Obama is reaching for his gun, while Clinton is terrified. Here's to hoping that last ditch SNL appearance worked. More tonight after the polls close.
