My Famous Homeless Man

most-handsome-beggar-brother-sharp-ningbo-china-01

Not sure if I should file this under funny, sad or both. There's currently a Chinese internet celebrity roaming the streets on Ningbo, China. He looks the part of a Williamsburg burnout, but the thing is- he's homeless. A pedestrian snapped a picture of 5'8 man and post it on the internet, gushing about his good looks and great sense of style and before you know it, he's the newest internet sensation. He's even started a new fashion trend.

Getting the nickname "Brother Sharp", he has since been followed by more residents, as if they were the paparazzi and he's the celebrity. Catching his every move, what he eats (trash off the street), where he hangs out (back alleys) and who he hangs out with (no one, he's a lone drifter). When the Chinese authorities tried to track him down, "Brother Sharp" is so psychologically disturbed that he refuses and continues on his merry way. You tell me, does he look like he just walked off the runway? (Independent)

My Miss New York 2009

2009+Muscular+Dystrophy+Association+Muscle+7JcXBx9-GgHl

In another sign that most of the Asian community just doesn't care about western pop culture, how is it possible the news Tracey Chang, the first foreign born Miss New York, not even make a blurb in the papers? Anyway, Chang went on to lose in the Miss USA contest earlier this year. Maybe it's just me, but I'm still haven't a tough time separating beauty pageant contestants and Stepford wives. I think it's the smile... how either of them never stop smiling. It creeps me out.

My Snowstorm in July

yonkers1

A new sign of the end of times. So a hail storm that dumped over 3 inches of snow was what caused my shoot to be cancelled today. I'd love to see some snow right about now with all the hot weather we've been having. (NYP)

My Absurd Quote

wordvomit

“It’s finally happened. America, I’ve been warning you for years that gay marriage would destroy the American family and look … there they are, a husband, wife, and four children -- destroyed. When is this going to stop, America? When will the liberals be satisfied? When all the marriages break up? This wasn’t Mark Sanford’s fault, this was Ted Kennedy’s fault. Sanford didn’t cheapen the value of marriage, he was victimized by the cheapening of marriage.” -- Rush Limbaugh

I'm not sure if I should be feeling sorry for or be laughing at the people who actually buys this crap for breakfast. Yes, it's the gays' fault Sanford's penis decided to poke younger greener pastures. If I roll my eyes any harder, they'll end up doing an 180 degree turn to the back of my head.

My Purple Poo

IMG_0607

I parked under a tree last night and when I got to my car and sat down, I couldn't help but notice a bird poop stain next to me on the window. After driving a few blocks to run some much needed errands I've delayed due to my break, I couldn't help but notice how the bird poop is purple. Now, home.. I still don't know how it became purple. Too much grapes in that bird's diet perhaps.

My Serbian Statues

_41061288_lee1_bodyap

Oh you crazy Serbs. In the past 4 years, Serbian government allowed the public to vote on which statues they should erect to symbolize the fight against ethnic violence, repelling bad luck and peace & tolerance. According to the results, the public decided Bruce Lee(!) should represent the fight against ethnic violence, fictional Rocky Balboa(!) to fight off the bad luck and Bob Marley(!) to symbolize peace and tolerance. There you have, there's a bronze statue of Bruce Lee hanging out somewhere in the town square of a Serbian town. While those three wouldn't be my personal choice for their respective honors, I'd say it's a bit of an amusing choice. I wonder how many people have already ran the Rocky steps next to the Serbian Rocky... (Bloomberg)

My Hideous Haircut

kate_gosselin_new_hairstyle204

So you're trying to tell me this is the haircut all the suburban housewives want? It's a little heinous and silly, don't you think? How practical is it to have such a high maintenance hairdo that needs to be combed and styled to perfection every morning when you're a mother of eight?

My 30 Rock Goof?

Picture 2

How did no one catch the green screen shot during the cold open on last week's '30 Rock' before they broadcast it? But other than that, LOVED with 'Mad Men' reference...

My Snuggies

27091919

My new Facebook friend Lindsey was spot on when she mentioned the Snuggies (a blanket with sleeves!) looks like what members of a cult would wear. And now, New York Times uncharacteristically charms their readers with a photo essay taking their infomercial literally to the streets by wearing them outdoors.

My Latest Subway Horror Story

743px-18av_WE_BMT_sta_jeh

We all have them, but my latest encounter with the NYC Subway involves a man begging me and my roommates for money before peeing 10 feet away from us, a obnoxious man yelling into this cell "I don't care if everyone is staring at me on the train, I don't give a fuck." and the train announcer talking like he's Mr. Moviefone. Okay, that last bit was actually nice and comforting.

But c'mon, I knew last night wouldn't have gone well as soon as we decided to go see 'Quantum of Solace'.

My Underwear Embarrassment

539w

I don't think Mike Singletary is going to last as a NFL head coach that much longer. He has already been a punchline for sports radio hosts across this nation this week for benching one of his players midgame and now, it's been confirmed during his halftime pep-talk, Singletary dropped his pants to show how embarrassed his team should be at the score. If anything, Singletary got a few laughs because the 49ers still lost. (ESPN)

My 30 Rock Repeat

Picture 1
Granted, I'm probably the worst person to complain about this, but does anyone find the wording weird in this promotional ad for '30 Rock' on NBC.com? Either way, I'm going to log in at midnight tomorrow just in case.

My Mystery Phone Call

I'll admit it- I screen calls when it doesn't come up as someone I know. So this morning, when I got a call a 414, I was curious as to who from who-knows-where wants to get a hold of that early on a Monday morning. After looking up the digits, I realized the said 414 number has been getting a lot of complaints online about being a prank call or a tele-marketer that would not answer if you call back. So unless this Robert Oistech guy from Wisconsin really wants to talk to me, I think I'm going to block him out from now on.

My Baby Name

Peanuts_in_Shells

So what's the worst baby name you've heard lately? Mine is the picture of the object above. Soap opera star Ingo Rademacher named his newborn Peanut Kai. I feel silly just typing his name with a capital P. I guess this beats Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's Apple. In the real world, I haven't witness any actual absurd baby names. I've encountered bad ones, but for the fear of their parents reading this, I'll refrain from posting those names. So, who has been introduced to some oddball baby names? (CelebrityBabyBlog)

My Early Baseball Surprise

I know it's early, but as of right now. The Kansas City Royals is the only team left in Major League Baseball to be undefeated after sweeping Detroit. Strange to hear that, no?
