My Peterio Awards (Part Sixteen: Best Televised Musical Performance)

kanye_west_1

Ever the showman, Kanye West's rendition of Heartless during the Saturday Night Live not only exceeded any SNL performances in recent history, but it's on another level on its own. Accompanied with a killer song and a trippy video screen behind him, the ever evolving West manages to have fun while being "emo" at the same time. And once again, due to copyright infringements, I can only link you... so check it out.

Other Notable Nominees: Let It Be (Cast of 'Across The Universe' @ Grammys), Falling Slowly (Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova @ Oscars), Lovebug (Jonas Brothers @ MTV VMAs) & Viva La Vida (Coldplay @ MTV Movie Awards)

Kanye's GLOW IN THE DARK tour was incredible. It was the best concert experience for me in 2k8 (followed closely by Of Montreal at the Paladium in Hollywood). Not only did Kanye totally rock; his opening acts were all top notch. That tour turned me on to both Lupe Fiasco and N.E.R.D. It also made me open my eyes and realize that Rihanna is more than just the electronic voice behind an annoying song about an umbrella played seventeen gazillion times on the radio...she's actually one of the hottest upcoming female entertainers with real stage presence (in my humble opinion, at least). So, Peterio, once again, I agree with your pick.

P.S. I'd like to point out the "word verification" Blogger is asking me to type in is "shmin." I like the sound of this word, and I think I'm going to try to use it in a sentence this week.
