My Peterio Awards (Part Fifteen: Best Music Single)

paperplanes300

I'll admit I'm usually a little slow when it comes to forming an opinion regarding music. It usually takes me a little while to digest because I decide rather or not I like it. But after a year long of digestion, I can conclude that M.I.A.'s Paper Planes is the best track of 2008. Setting a new wave for the new sound for pop, the track is filled with energy and pure joy- down to the very cartoonish sound effects that deserved the cute little gunshot dance in bars across the nation.

Other Notable Nominees: 'Bleeding Love' (Leona Lewis), 'Heartless' (Kanye West), 'I Kissed A Girl' (Katy Perry) & 'Love In This Club' (Usher w/ Young Jeezy)

The only time I've heard this song before seeing it here was in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. I had no idea it was normal pop song.

Peter...love your pick and all your honorable mentions (especially, KANYE!!). However, I know you want to put Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" on this list.

P.S. I attribute the trailer for 'Pineapple Express' with the success of this song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQqUyBN4g8M
